Printable Lesson Plan Free Google Sheets & Excel Template
The Printable Lesson Plan Free Google Sheets Template is a tool designed for effective planning of the entire week. It’s perfect for teachers who can’t stand the confusion of a constantly changing schedule. Often, these types of planners cover only a single lesson or a specific group of classes. However, we focused specifically on the nature of the educational process, which must remain flexible. The printable lesson plan is a five-day planner that helps teachers develop lesson plans for up to eight lessons per day. Its simple structure makes it easy to understand even for substitute teachers who have no previous experience with your subject.
A study published in the Journal of Special Education by Kurtz and colleagues showed that alignment between a teacher’s planned curriculum, their lessons, and actual instruction is significantly associated with improved student achievement. This highlights the importance of keeping lesson plans aligned with actual classroom instruction. Based on these studies, we created this Printable Lesson Plan Free Google Sheets Template to meet the specific needs of teaching.
Make preparing for next week’s lessons easier with this lesson plan
We built the entire design around five main pillars. The name refers to the five days of the week, which are, it’s worth emphasizing, the standard five working days. We arranged them in two columns, and they look like spreadsheets with cells in each block. Furthermore, each day has an additional cell for notes and is divided into eight bulleted cells. This way, you can not only define learning goals but also clarify necessary details. To avoid confusion, we outlined each block with a thin border and labeled it with the date and day of the week.
At the top, in addition to the name, are three tables where you can enter the school name, name, and week number. For added convenience, our designers included another full-size cell for assignments, reminders, or other work-related additions. Our designers deliberately chose rows with colored stripes to draw the eye immediately to assignments or lesson objectives. This helps even if you only have a few hours of teaching time throughout the week.
Its simplicity makes it equally easy to use in both printed and online formats. Since everything is on a single sheet, you can easily track overlapping sessions or repeated topics. Furthermore, a study by Wolgast and Fisher, published in the journal Social Psychology of Education, found that teachers who collaborate more frequently on lesson planning report reduced stress associated with the planning process. This is precisely what the gdoc.io team aims to achieve by creating this tool. Furthermore, using Google Sheets allowed us to work with its content much more efficiently. It also enabled us to make any adjustments to its structure. We designed this template to permanently solve the problem of poorly structured lessons. As you fill it out, your plan will become clear to any colleague or substitute teacher. They will immediately understand how to continue working with your class or subject.
